Birding in Mozambique:

January to March is the perfect period to observe some of the Intra-African and Paleartic migrant bird species especially the raptors. Dunes de Dovela is one of the only place where the sighting of a Sooty Falcon is almost guaranteed during this period. In addition, the African Hobby is regular resident together with European Honey Buzzard and Steppe Buzzard.

All these species love to hunt on alates after the rain and usually join large flock of Yellow-billed Kite over the dunes. If not doing so they rest on the coconut tree flat palm in the village, often above the lake to always have a look to dragonflies passing by.
