Your wild paradise
Dunes and costal forest protection has always been the thread of the building process (such as its networks): a borehole has been drilled at 57 m depth and feeds a tank hidden in the vegetation on the top of the highest dune. This allows a gravity distribution of the site and a minimum loss of water.
The septic tanks (that collect 100% of the dirty water from the site) and their spillage networks were meticulously studied to optimise the dunes topography and minimise the impact of their construction.
The wastes are selected for recycling: compost, ALMA association and recycling company in Maputo.
In order to minimise the transport, most of the construction material are locally sourced: reeds, wood, stone, sand; the hand work is always preferred instead of construction equipments and their devastating movement.
The rounded shapes of the building naturally melt into the forest and a limited number of trees and plants have been cut.
Our tourist project aims to raise awareness among a large public to the pleasures of nature. Traditional and scientific knowledge meet to become the bases of a conservation action. Also, nature discovery games, thematic footpaths and a library dedicated to nature are our means to sensitise our guests to the needs of earth protection.
Through education, training and the creation of ACCM (Associação de Conservação Costeira de Moçambique), Dunes de Dovela tries to inform the local community about the huge value of their natural and cultural heritage.
