February 2007: Fretom Turismo Lda company incorporation; survey and selection of the site to implement the project.
April 2007: Public consultation: The community of Dovela accept the principle of the project. Leonardo Malaicha Guambé is recruited as guide and company representative within the community.
September 2007: Counting and payment of the fruit trees to the owners. Thomas Bruneau settled permanently his tent under a coconut tree in Dovela.
November 2007: Beginning of “Rua de Manhame” opening. Topographical survey made by Fred and Thomas. Recruitment of Castigo Firmine Matimbé as the leader of a team with six other members.
February 2008: Use and benefits of the land (two year lease).
April 2008: Public consultation for the environmental impact study, the project is approved by the CPI (Centro de Promoção dos Investimentos) and registered at the Mozambique central Bank. Networks and buildings layout drawings finalized.
July 2008: The licence for construction is granted, the potable water borehole is drilled, the car track is completed and the general earthworks have started with shovels...
August 2008: The Mozambican Minister of Tourism approved the project.
September 2008: the environmental licence is granted. Frédéric Bonlieu, Sophie-Anne Bonlieu-Fortier and their three kids arrived in Mozambique. Starting of the details drawings.
October 2008: The water pump, the tanker and the main water network are installed
November 2008: Beginning of the technical building construction. Ten people worked on the site.
February 2009: Beginning of the construction of the central part of the lodge. Fifteen persons are employed, start of the construction skills training. The community has started to build the school in Dovela.
August 2009: The construction goes on; twenty one people are employed and simultaneously trained.
November 2009: Beginning of wooden roof structure erection. The lease for fifty years is granted (DUAT). The new Dovela’s classrooms welcome the children and are used as a polling station for presidential election!
January 2010: Beginning of the bungalow’s construction. Forty people work on the project.
April 2010: Logo Dunes de Dovela creation.
July 2010: The first website is on line. Broadcast on French TV France 2, Envoyé Spécial Carnet de voyages about the Mozambique and the project of Dunes de Dovela.
August 2010: 45 persons… The restaurant is covered. Fred and Thomas celebrate their 40 years old anniversary with their friends. The « batuke » de Dovela plays in the dunes and the construction team with their spouse come to join the party.
September 2010: Alexandra Polleau has joined the team of Dunes de Dovela, English training starts for willing workers (15 participants).
February 2011: Fifty persons. The first bungalow and the central part are completed, beginning of the bush camp construction.
April 2011: Creation of l'ACCM (Associação de Conservação Costeira de Moçambique)
June 2011: Taditional ceremony for the Lodge opening, experimental small scale opening! From the fifty workers, twenty go on to build and fifteen has started their hospitality training.
August 2011: The license (Alvara) of exploration for the Eco Lodge is granted by the Mozambican Minister of Tourism.
September 2011: Pierre, 11 years old, has to go to college in France, Sophie Anne his mother and his two brothers Victor et César came with.
November 2011: End of construction for the bungalow 3 and the bush camp. The construction team is reduced to 5 persons for the finishing.
December 2011: All the bungalows and the tents are booked. The team sees the result of four years of effort and faces this new challenge.
January 2012: Official inauguration of the Eco Lodge Dunes de Dovela with the presence of the Inhambane province Governor, the television and radio of Mozambique, the local elected officials and traditional chiefs of the neighbourhoods.
May 2012: The construction is over. Fred goes back to France.
